Painting in the Key of Community
Exhibition Reception

October 22
5–7 p.m.

Join us in celebrating the first exhibition in our Local Artists Gallery as we feature NEPA luminary Austin Burke on October 22!

The artist will be on hand to discuss his work, and light refreshments will be available. This event is included with general Museum admission, and registration is not required.

Austin Burke: Painting in the Key of Community, on view October 7–November 1, is a snapshot of Burke’s colorful depictions of the richness of Northeastern Pennsylvania life. The exhibition features many of the region’s most iconic landmarks and events, bringing to life the community that has inspired Burke throughout his career.

About Austin Burke

That Austin Burke loves his roots in the anthracite region is an understatement. Burke’s paintings celebrate the richness of life throughout NEPA, where the artist has resided his entire life.

After a successful 40-year career as president of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce, and working for the state under then Governor Ed Rendell, Burke returned to his art full time and took further classes at his alma mater Keystone College, where he was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Human Letters.
