Why Scranton to Slough?
We want to celebrate the special connection between Scranton and Slough forged through our mutual ties to The Office.
The first episode of the original UK series, "Downsize," premiered on July 9, 2001, on BBC Two. Created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the groundbreaking mockumentary followed the daily lives of employees at the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company in Slough.A few years later, producer Ben Silverman secured the rights to adapt the series for American audiences, and Greg Daniels came on board as showrunner. Daniels sought a city to parallel Slough with East Coast charm, relatable, unpretentious, and close to New York. Through a series of happy coincidences, Scranton became the home of Dunder Mifflin and, in turn, an indelible part of television history.
Now, we're inviting fans and travelers alike to celebrate this shared legacy by making the journey from Scranton to Slough together.
