Join us as we welcome James Markowich for a free reception and discussion of the new exhibition Play Ball!: The Tarot de Cooperstown, on view through July 19!
In celebration of America’s Pastime, Kuhrman and Markowich use the 18th century Nicolas Conver tarot card deck, itself derived from the original Tarot de Marseille decks, as the foundation for a series of 78 paintings inspired by the baseball diamond and its cast of characters, including the manager, the owner, the players, and the commissioner to name a few.
During the evening, Markowich will discuss how the idea came about and how it developed into the exhibition that it is.
