Events from September 18 – October 12 – Everhart Museum

Ethereal Transformations Opening Reception

Everhart Museum 1901 Mulberry St., Scranton, PA, United States

To celebrate the opening of the exhibition Sharon Cosgrove: Ethereal Transformations, which presents the work of the Wilkes-Barre-based artist and Wilkes University Art Professor Emerita, the Everhart is hosting a free public opening reception. The evening includes remarks by Cosgrove and an assortment of light fare. No registration is required. Cosgrove is one of Northeastern PA’s most accomplished and respected artists, her work having been exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. Her images force the viewer into focusing on the moment, something lost in the modern world where focus seems lost to the constant barrage of the what’s next.

Birds in Nature: Inspired by John Audubon

Everhart Museum 1901 Mulberry St., Scranton, PA, United States

Join artist Brian Tresca for a creative workshop celebrating the beauty of birds in nature. The session begins with a short presentation on John Adams Audubon, the famed naturalist and artist who inspired the Audubon Society. Participants will learn about Audubon’s artistic style and his influence on both art and conversation. Following the presentation, Brian will guide participants in creating their own bird-inspired artwork to take home. Acrylic paint on canvas will be encouraged, but additional materials such as pastels, pencils, and watercolors will also be available for individual exploration.
