WVIA Wednesdays at the Everhart: Harriet Tubman

Join us for the second installment of WVIA Wednesdays at the Everhart as Lisa Mazzarella hosts a special free screening of the PBS documentary Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom, showing 2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11. WVIA will also welcome special guest speaker EJ Murphy, local historian and program director of Destination Freedom: Underground Railroad walking tour in Waverly. WVIA Wednesdays at the Everhart is. monthly screening series programmed especially for senior citizens. While this event is free to attend, you must register in advance, as space is limited.

Underground Railroad Talk with EJ Murphy

EJ Murphy, Project Coordinator for the Waverly Community House’s Destination Freedom: Underground Railroad Walking Tour of Waverly will host talks to coincide with the Everhart’s new exhibition Through the Darkness to the Light: Photographs from Along the Underground Railroad, on view through January 5, and WVIA Wednesdays at the Everhart: Harriet Tubman. Murphy, an educator and public historian from Scranton, PA, will discuss the Underground Railroad as it pertains to the local history of Northeastern Pennsylvania, an important stop on the way from the American South to Canada.
