American Folk Art Gallery Reception: Honoring the Oppenheim Family

Join us for a lovely evening as we celebrate the Everhart Museum’s newly-reestablished American Folk Art Gallery, made possible by the Oppenheim Family Foundation. The reception will include an open bar from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., passed hors d’oeuvres by Stirna’s Restaurant, and a guided tour of the exhibition by Everhart Museum Curator James Lansing.

The American Folk Art Gallery highlights selections from the Everhart’s expansive and diverse folk art collection, including paintings, etchings, calligraphy, sculptures, store signs, dolls, toys, and more. The collection, begun in the 1930s, was one of the earliest museum collections of American Folk Art, and was at the forefront of a national movement toward a greater appreciation for folk art, or work created by artists without academic training.

Thanks to the Oppenheim Family Foundation, this collection may be restored and maintained for the enjoyment of generations to come.
