2026 SCHOLASTIC ART AWARDS
The Everhart Museum in affiliation with the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers is proud to announce the 2026 Scholastic Art Awards for the Northeastern Pennsylvania Region. The awards are the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens.
Scholastic offers young artists in Grades 7–12, 13 years or older, the opportunity to showcase their creativity on a national platform. The program encourages students to submit original works in a variety of categories such as architecture & industrial design, ceramics & glass, comic art, design, digital art, drawling & illustration, editorial cartoon, expanded projects, fashion, film & animation, jewelry, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania region includes Clinton, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Susquehanna, Union, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties. In 2025, over 400 artworks from 40 schools were entered into the competition.
Each year, the Everhart hosts the Gold Key Awards Exhibition displaying the work of all Gold Key and American Vision Award recipients, with the 2026 exhibition dates to be announced soon.
Important Dates
October 1, 2025: The 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards opens for entries.
January 6, 2026: NEPA regional submission deadline
January 28, 2026: Regional award announcements are made, and results of the regional competition and certificates are made available on the portal.
March 25, 2026: National awards are announced.
June 9–June 11, 2026: Select award-winners are invited to celebrate win NYC for the National Ceremony.
About Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, established in 1923, is the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious art and writing recognition program for students Grades 7 through 12, and the Museum has hosted the competition for the Northeastern PA Region since 2018.
The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world. Through the Awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships.
