Saturday, September 29, 11 – pm
In conjunction with the Everhart’s Fall exhibition featuring works by world-renowned artist Hunt Slonem, the Everhart will present a book signing with the artist on Saturday, September 29th.
Slonem will be signing copies of his newly released book, Gatekeeper: World of Folly (2018). This 300-page book takes readers inside the Colonel Louis Watres Armory. Built in 1900 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Armory is Slonem’s latest project that showcases the artist’s novel take on interior design—matching vibrant, multicolor interiors with a bricolage of historically potent and rare items found from around the world. This system of “collectorating,” or collecting and decorating, has become Slonem’s trademark and can be found across the artist’s multiple historical properties around the country.
Gatekeeper: World of Folly walks readers through this 102,000-square-foot masterpiece room-by room, object by object, filling us with the sense of wonder for which the artist is so well‑known.
Gatekeeper (2018) will be available for sale at the Museum along with copies of two of Slonem’s other books Bunnies (2017) and Birds (2014). Also available will be a few copies of a limited edition of Bunnies (2017) that features a luxurious cloth-covered box and a signed and numbered print.
