Farm to Table Community Day presented a series of programs and hands-on activities related to our annual Farm to Table fund raising event on Friday, September 21, 2012.
Local presenters included: The NEPA Swappers, Electric City Roasting Company, the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple, No Bull Ranch, Naturalist Jane Frye, Chef Joseph Caputo, Colarusso’s Coal Fired Pizza and more!
Scheduled Programs
1:00 pm
Everhart Museum Executive Director Cara Sutherland presented Pickling from Home, demonstrating from the Museums kitchen how-to’s on pickling and preserving.
1:30 pm
Michael Colarusso from Colarusso’s Coal Fired Pizza prepared fresh mozzarella using locally purchased cheese curd
2:00 pm
Celebrity Chef Joseph Caputo from the Scranton Cultural Center series “The Menu” demonstrated how to make veggie lasagna using local produce from the Farmer’s Market and organic bread from Beta Bread Baker’s in Clarks Summit
2:20 pm
Hear it first from No Bull Ranch LLC owners Tom & Stephanie Milewski provided insight into how local farms are local providers
2:40 pm
Electric City Roasting Company discussed the process of how they roast their famous coffee brand right here in Lackawanna County
3:00 pm
Naturalist Jane Frye took visitors on a Wild Edible Plants Walk on the historic Davis Trail in Nay Aug Park to learn some of the areas wild edible, poisonous and invasive plants
Additional activities included DIY craft workshops for all ages, healthy eating tips and food activities for kids, local food providers giving us the inside scoop, a museum marketplace and information on food swaps happening in our area!
Admission to these activities was included with general museum admission.
