April 3, 2013                                          Poetry Sucks Workshop, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Explore the art of “Found Poetry” in this writing workshop led by Tom Blomain, president of the Mulberry Poets & Writers. The class is open to open to ages 16 and older. The cost is $5/museum members and $10/non-members. April 4, 2013                                          Rosen Method movement, 11:00 am to Noon

Rosen Method is an easy movement program designed to increase range of motion, improve flexibility, and ease breathing. Gently using all the joints, this exercise was developed to prevent difficulties and help people age gracefully. Set to music and held in various galleries throughout the museum, Rosen Method movement is a fun way to find well-being in a social, dance-like atmosphere. Rosen Method movement is held on Thursdays from 11:00 am to Noon. Admission is free to Everhart Museum members, $6/class for all others. Participants must pre-register for the course and class size is limited. For more information or to register please call 570-346-7186 or email general.information@everhart-museum.org.

 

April 5, 2013                                          Everhart Wonder Club, 3:30 to 5:00 pm

The Everhart Museum presents: Creative Characters from Paper to Puppets!  This is a series of five workshops loosely based on the Spring exhibit, The Blood is the Life: Vampires in Art & Nature.  The exhibit includes animals of the unknown, mythical creatures and pop culture characters.  Students ages 5-9 will work in several different media to create wonderful works of art.  Classes will run five consecutive Friday afternoons. The cost is $25/Museum members and $30/non-members for the five week -series.  Participants must pre-register and class size is limited. April 6, 2013                                          Bag-a-Badge, 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Scouts are invited to visit the Everhart Museum throughout the year to earn badges in our always popular Bag-a-Badge program. Each session is held 1:00-4:00 pm. Please note that the badge is not provided and participants will need to obtain that directly from their troop leader. April 6th program is for Boy Scout Bears and features the “What Makes America Special?” badge. Fee is $12/scout and includes a snack. April 8, 2013                                          Early Explorers, 1:00 to 1:45 pm

Early Explorers is a parent-child interactive workshop for pre-school children (age 3-5). Weekly themes surround museum-based programming. Admission to the 10-week Spring series is free to Everhart Museum members, $25/child & $15/sibling for non-members. April 10, 2013                                        Pysanky Workshop, 6:00 to 8:00 pm 

Create traditional pysanky for year-round decorating! This is a beginner’s class on traditional wax-resist egg decorating with a Romanian pattern emphasis in honor of the exhibit! The class is taught by Stefanie Colarusso (Director of Interpretive Programs) and is open to ages 16 and older. The cost is $25/museum members and $30/non-members. April 17, 2013                                        Vampires @ the AFA Gallery, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

This is the second in a series of vampire films hosted by the Everhart Museum at the AFA Gallery located in downtown Scranton. Join us for the 1964 horror classic The Last Man on Earth (unrated) starring Vincent Price. When a disease turns all of humanity into the living dead, the last man (Price) on earth becomes a reluctant vampire hunter. This 84-minute film was directed by Ubaldo Ragona and filmed in Italy. April 24, 2013                                       The Green Hour: Absinthe at the Everhart, 7:00 to 9:00 pm

From a taste of its colorful history to a taste of the green drink itself, experience the allure of this once forbidden beverage. Join the Everhart staff and special guests for this beverage tasting and educational program. This event will be limited to ages 21 and older. Additional details, including the costs, will be posted soon!
