May 2, 2013                                             Rosen Method movement, 11:00 am to Noon

Rosen Method is an easy movement program designed to increase range of motion, improve flexibility, and ease breathing. Gently using all the joints, this exercise was developed to prevent difficulties and help people age gracefully. Set to music and held in various galleries throughout the museum, Rosen Method movement is a fun way to find well-being in a social, dance-like atmosphere. Rosen Method movement is held on Thursdays from 11:00 am to Noon. Admission is free to Everhart Museum members, $6/class for all others. Participants must pre-register for the course and class size is limited. For more information or to register please call 570-346-7186 or email general.information@everhart-museum.org.

 

May 3, 2013                                             Everhart Wonder Club, 3:30 to 5:00 pm

The Everhart Museum presents: Creative Characters from Paper to Puppets!  This is a series of five workshops loosely based on the Spring exhibit, The Blood is the Life: Vampires in Art & Nature.  The exhibit includes animals of the unknown, mythical creatures and pop culture characters.  Students ages 5-9 will work in several different media to create wonderful works of art.  Classes will run five consecutive Friday afternoons. The cost is $25/Museum members and $30/non-members for the five week -series.  Participants must pre-register and class size is limited. May 8, 2013                                             Dark Shadows: Silhouette Workshop, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Students ages 18 and older will learn the basics of photographic transfer and create a work of art using a variety of medium including digital photography, watercolor, and pencil. The cost is $25/museum members and $30/non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration/pre-payment is required. For more information or to make a reservation, contact the Museum at 570-346-7186 or email general.information@everhart-museum.org.

May 15, 2013                                           Stoker on Stoker, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Dacre Stoker, a descendant of literary genius Bram Stoker (author of Dracula), will present a lecture on the history & legacy of the Stoker family, as well as details on the novel’s history. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Additional information on this event will be posted soon!

May 22, 2013                                          Vampires @ the AFA Gallery, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

This is the third in a series of vampire films hosted by the Everhart Museum at the AFA Gallery located in downtown Scranton. Join us for The Hunger (rated R) starring Catherine Denueve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon. Directed in 1983 by Tony Scott (who would later go on to fame with Top Gunand other films), the 97-minute film centers on Miriam (Deneuve), a centuries-old Egyptian vampire, who preys on urban club goers with her vampire lover John (Bowie). When John suddenly ages and wastes away, Miriam casts her spell upon Sarah (Sarandon), a doctor who researches premature aging.
