Master’s Workshop Series

The Everhart Museum Master’s Workshop Series gives adults an opportunity to study with a master artist.

Master’s can expect an intermediate to advanced level workshop, studying with area professional artists to expand their skills in traditional crafts or fine art. The course will be between 3-5 days, depending on the class.

THE ART OF PYSANKY
with artist Stefanie Colarusso

Saturday, February 23 and March 2, 2019
ALL LEVELS

During this Master’s session, students will tour the Museum Dorflinger Glass collection to draw inspiration for the design of their egg. Students will first sketch their design onto an egg template, then transfer their drawing to their egg. The egg will be done in four steps over the course of two classes. Step 1: Drawing, Step 2: color one, Step 3: color two, Step 4 Finish with varnish. Students will have completed one egg at the end of the master class.

This class requires a minimum number of students. If the minimum is not reached, the class may be canceled and registered students would receive a full refund. There is also limited space available and registration is first come, first served. Registration is complete upon payment.

 

MATCHBOOKS & SOFT COVER JOURNALS
with Book Artist Mel Rosato

Thursday, March 7 and March 14, 2019

5:30 to 7:30 pm
$50 per person (supplies included)


During this Master’s classes, students will be introduced to a matchbook form. In week one, students will dive into the basics of making a book, preparing pages, binding and creating covers. Students will gain an understanding of how to use different tools, materials, and media. During week two, students will focus on measuring and preparing folios and stitching. Students will complete a soft cover journal at the end of the two-week master.

Love Fiber Arts? Do it at the Everhart

Peg McDade professional fiber artist will assist you with your planning and production start to finish. Want to expand your knitting and crochet skills, applique, reverse applique, and quilting? Focus on one of the four fiber techniques presented. Peg will also have two table looms ready for optional weaving experimentation. Participants provide materials and hand tools. Yarns available from Peg McDade Fiber Arts Studio 570-586-2093. Materials cost for each technique available at registration.

STAINED AND FUSED GLASS

Students will learn safe practices with glass, use of tools, cutting glass, traditional stained glass and fusing glass.

Week 1: Stained Glass project

Week 2: Continued stained glass

Week 3: Fused Glass Project

Week 5: Completing project

The Maker class is recommended as a prerequisite of the Master sessions.

ART JOURNALING

Discover your creativity by using your sketchbook and begin to see the world in a new way! We’ll be drawing and collecting images and quotations that inspire us. The first series will concentrate our attention on drawing basics and collage, but open to creative noodling of all sorts. As well as being a lot of fun, these lessons will provide a foundation for watercolor classes at a future date. Come, join us and begin to explore creating your own life in images!

WATERCOLOR ESSENTIALS II: PAINTING FROM LIFE!

In this series of 4 weekly workshops, we will use still-life and floral subjects to begin to master that most basic of all aspects of the 2-dimensional arts: painting from life. We will cover everything: setting up and lighting the still-life; drawing basic forms; “lighting conditions” and values; color and color mixing; and painting procedures.

Recommended for those with some experience in drawing and painting, but motivated beginners are welcome.
