Isaiah's Corner

Isaiah's Corner Children's Hands-On Gallery
May 21- Sept. 6, 2010
In conjunction with the summer exhibit Ancient Bronzes of the Asian Grasslands, on loan from the Arthur M. Sackler Foundation, Isaiah’s Corner will offer children the chance to discover the culture of Silk Road. Crawl into a yurt and play with camel and hawk puppets. Create explore and learn through play in our room devoted to children. All children are welcome, however adult guidance is required.

    Materials, lunch and snack included.
    Spend your mornings discovering the thrill of the Silk Road! Spin silk...and spin tales. Create your own sculptural book in response to the Ancient Bronzes exhibit. Learn about the fascinating life of the nomads who traveled the Silk Road, and the ideas they spread: from papermaking to astronomy. For students who have completed grades 3-8.

    Discover the excitement of book arts with renowned author/illustrator Lindsay Barrett George and NPR radio personality Fiona Siobhan Powell. Storytelling, paper making and printmaking activities will be part of this adventurous week. For students who have completed grades K-2.

Badge is not provided. Registration and pre-payment is required. $12 for one session, snack included.

    The Everhart Museum Pass

    Your Lackawanna County Library Card is the ticket for a family trip to the Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science & Art. The Museum Pass is available for loan at all libraries in Lackawanna County and the bookmobile. It may be checked out to any adult with a valid library card. The pass may be checked out for one week and admits six people (maximum of two adults and four children- age 18 or younger) to the Everhart during regular museum hours. Membership privileges do not apply and additional charges may apply for special programs and events. Please check with the Lackawanna County Library regarding its loan policy. This service is made possible by support from the Lackawanna County Office of Education and Culture.

    PRE-REGISTRATION is required for all workshops and camps. Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Class sizes are limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment. For programs of $50 or less, full payment must be made at time of registration. For programs over $50, a deposit of $50 must be made in order to register. If the class is full, students can be added to a waiting list until the waiting list is as long as the maximum size of the class. If the minimum class size is not met, the class will be cancelled during the week before it is scheduled to begin, students will be notified, and payment will be refunded. Parents: By signing this form, you give permission for your child to attend a class at the Everhart Museum and agree to the following statements: My child shall behave in conformity with the rules and regulations of the Everhart Museum, and in the event his/her behavior is detrimental to the program, understand that the Everhart has the right to end my child’s participation in the program immediately. In the case of gross misconduct, illness, or accident, no refund will be made. Although the Everhart maintains the highest safety standards, the museum does not assume liability for accidents, illness or disease. The Everhart Museum has my permission to use photos of my child in promotional and educational literature.
