GUIDED TOURS
Guided Tour
The perfect opportunity for students to learn about the purpose of a museum, and view highlights from the Everhart’s collection. Generally, tours cover our fine art, folk art, Life through Time, ornithology, and African galleries. If you prefer, you may substitute our Ancient World gallery or one of our special temporary exhibits. Guided tours last approximately one hour. $5/student

Grand Tour
The Everhart is pleased to offer a workbook-based tour of the museum. As opposed to our guided tour, the Grand Tour employs experimentation, small group work, and hands-on activities for students to explore more conceptual issues related to our galleries. Tours will primarily cover fine art, dinosaurs, ancient Egypt and/or Africa, and folk art. Other galleries may be substituted dependant on group size and instructor availability. The Grand Tour lasts approximately two hours. $6/student

PRE-K PROGRAMS
For our youngest friends, we’ve designed workshops to keep minds and bodies moving. These workshops last approximately one hour and feature several interactive opportunities. $6/student.

Search through our galleries in the quest for hidden cats, snakes, jaguars, birds, and buffalo.
Learning to Look
A first look at what makes art tick. Learn about color, line, and shape, and how they all fit together to make a masterpiece.
It’s a Small World
Through scavenger hunts, storytelling, and drawing, see how cultures across the world aren’t that different from your own.
GALLERY TOUR AND WORKSHOP
Geared to grades K through 6, these content-focused workshops last 1-1/2 hours and include correlating activities. $7/student.

Africa in a New Light
The African gallery includes pieces from twelve of Africa’s nations, representing eighteen of the many hundreds of Africa’s cultural groups. During this workshop, you’ll learn to appreciate the beauty of these works, and understand their meanings and roles in everyday African life.

Ancient Egypt
An in depth examination of the land, life, customs, and beliefs of ancient Egypt. From mummies to mastabas, we’ll bring to light the truths and tales that have captivated the world for thousands of years.

Life through Time
Our Life through Time gallery holds more than just dinosaurs. From trilobites to saber-tooth tigers, our tour will discuss fossils, fish, plants, mammals, and the changing face of the land through millions of years. Needless to say, we’ll investigate the dinosaurs’ world and their ultimate fate, too!

Dr. Everhart’s Aviary
The Everhart Museum holds over 2,300 birds – many from Dr. Everhart’s own collection. In this workshop, students will discover general avian, specifically adaptive, and often beautiful qualities that distinguish birds from other species and from each other.

What’s Inside an Artist’s Mind?
Whether landscape, portrait, or still life, art depicts the development of the world around us. By looking at pieces of our permanent collection, we’ll learn about color theory, artists’ techniques and styles, and how artists use these to catch attention, stir emotion, and document history through their masterpieces.

Medieval Brass Rubbings
Think medieval life was always a ball, filled with magical castles, gallant knights, and beautiful gowns? During this one-of-a-kind experience, we’ll take a look at the real story of the Middle Ages through our unique collection of medieval plates. Pick your favorite and create a brass rubbing wall hanging to take home.
